The Jaguar Mk IV 3.5 Litre DHC was sold as SS 3.5 Litre DHC before world war two. The SS 3.5 Litre was introduced in the year 1937. After 1945 Swallow Sidecar Company (SS) changed it's name to Jaguar. Immediately after the war the graceful Mk VI was put back in production and it was produced until 1948. From 1937 until 1948 5424 SS and Jaguar Mk IV 3.5 Litre cars have been built. The Mk IV was available as saloon and Drop Head Coupe model.
De Jaguar Mk IV was succeeded by the Jaguar Mk V.
The Mk V was basically the same car but it was given a new front with the driving lamps integrated in the front wings. The Mk V was also fitted with hydraulic brakes.

Jaguar Mk IV 3.5 Litre Drop Head Coupé (DHC), year 1948. Colour aubergine purple over black. Black leather interior, black mohair convertible top with beige headlining. This magnificent Jaguar Mk IV DHC is in concours (show) condition. A Heritage certificate is present proving this is a matching numbers Jaguar. The automobile was beautifully restored in the past. The exterior paintwork, chrome trim, the interior leather and walnut panels are in immaculate condition. This automobile has been owned, for a long period of time, by Robert J. Barnes, CEO of Estee Lauder cosmetics in the USA. Documents on Estee Lauder business paper concerning this automobile are present. The last decades the automobile was solely used for show purposes and concourses d'elegance in the USA. This Jaguar is perfectly documented with original invoices and other interesting papers.  In the year 1998 Mr. Barnes sold the automobile. The car was sold to a Jaguar collector from The Netherlands. In the same year the convertible top was renewed. The automobile was serviced and maintained meticulously, recently the gearbox was overhauled. This Mk IV DHC features chrome wire wheels with white side walls. The original tool set in the boot lid is present and complete. This Jaguar Mk IV sports the beautiful and silent 3.5 Litre six cylinder engine. The automobile drives absolutely delightful and comfortable.
