Maserati Sebring 3500 GT I series 2, 1965

Photo overview  - Technical data Video Information

The Maserati Sebring 3500 GT I is the successor of the famous Maserati 3500 GT, the first Maserati that was built in "large numbers". The ancestor was the Maserati A6, the first sports car for street use ever built by this famous racing car manufacturer.
The Maserati Sebring was presented in the year 1962. The car was beautifully styled by Vignale. The Sebring was based upon the shorter wheelbase of the 3500 GT I Vignale cabriolet giving the coupe a very attractive appearance. Looking at the Sebring in detail one can only conclude that the car is a piece of art.
The Sebring was introduced with the 3485 cc. six cylinder engine with Lucas petrol injection which was also to be found in the 3500 GT I. The Sebring series 2, which saw the light of day in the year 1965, was also available with cylinder capacities of 3694 cc and 4014 cc. The 'standard' 3485 cc. engine delivered 235 bhp, the 3694 cc. engine 245 bhp and the 4014 cc. engine 255 bhp. The series 2 can be distinguished from the series 1 by the different styling of the quad head lamps and the shape of the direction indicators below the headlamps. The Maserati Sebring is a very rare automobile. From 1962 until 1965 around 348 series 1 cars were built, from 1965 until 1966 only 98 series 2 cars were built.
